County Posts Webpage with Proposed Bus Routes when Wiehle Station Opens

Fairfax Connector logo
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (DOT) has posted a webpage on the County website describing the proposed changes in County bus service when the Wiehle Metrorail station opens for service, now planned for early 2014.

One RCA Reston 2020 Committee member who has reviewed the information about Reston-area bus links provided the following comments:
"Most of the info we've already seen, but it does look like they now have maps for the new and realigned routes.  This includes the new 959 (Sunrise-Sunset Circulator, every 30 minutes on weekdays, 60 minutes on weekends, not clear what direction the 959 buses will travel).

The Connector web site lists the service frequencies (previously announced), but still no detailed route schedules, at least not that I can find.

Also nothing regarding modification of the RIBS routes.  I thought that RIBS 4 was going to be extended to serve the Wiehle station (with increased/doubled frequency), but I don't see anything regarding that.  (If not, North Point riders would have to transfer buses at RTC during off-peak hours and on weekends to reach Wiehle/Reston East.  Sure hope that I'm wrong.)"

  1. FAIRFAX COUNTY PLANS TO ELIMINATE ROUTES 595 AND 597 TO PENTAGON AND CRYSTAL CITY CLAIMING THAT SILVER LINE WILL REPLACE THIS SERVICE.

DUE TO CUTS IN BLUE LINE SERVICE DURING PEAK HOURS, METRORAIL JOURNEY TIME HAS INCREASED FOR SERVICE BETWEEN FAIRFAX COUNTY AND PENTAGON AND CRYSTAL CITY
